Leave It To Beaver is the classic family sitcom about the curious young boy Theodore "Beaver" Cleaver (Jerry Mathers), his mother June Cleaver (Barbara Billingsley), his father Ward Cleaver (Hugh Beaumont), Beaver's friends Gilbert Bates and Hubert "Whitey" Whitney, his brother Wally (Tony Dow), and Wally's pals Clarence "Lumpy" Rutherford and Eddie Haskell. Beaver is a seven-year-old all-American boy who likes baseball, comic books, and carnivals. He shares a room with his older brother Wally, who is 14, a popular student and athlete. Wally is popular with girls and dates, while Beaver is more immature and makes fun of the girls in his class, though he does develop crushes on his teachers Miss Canfield and Miss Landers. Beaver always tries to do the right thing but usually ends up in trouble for his misadventures, with his parents reprimanding him each episode. One of the first sitcoms written from a child's point of view, the 1950's and 1960's show featured middle-class American values, teaching that proper behavior brings rewards. Beavers adventures are amusing and humorous, and the show was enjoyable to kids and adults. Running for one season on CBS, and five on ABC, and now airing on TV Land, there is plenty of all-American fun to be had with the Cleaver family on Leave It To Beaver. MORE
