Law & Order: Special Victims Unit

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (SVU) is an insight into the New York Police Department's unit of the same name, focused on sexually based crimes, focusing on senior detective Eliot Stabler (Chris Meloni) and his partner Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and their leadership within the unit. While Stabler has seen a variety of tragedies in his time with the unit, Benson's past, involving rape, makes her personally identify with the work the unit does. Each epsiode involves the work they must do to solve the latest sexual crime the office is faced with, working together with the other members of the unit, which include detective John Munch (Richard Belzer), captain Donald Cragen (Dann Florek), A.D.A. Casey Novak (Diane Neal), and A.D.A. Alexandra Cabot (Stephanie March). The personal lives of each character come into play as well, especially when a specific case hits a little too close to home or when the victim has survived the crime and plays a part in solving it.
