Laverne & Shirley

Laverne & Shirley is an American sitcom that aired on ABC between 1976 and 1983, about roommates Laverne De Fazio (Penny Marshall) and Shirley Feeney (Cindy Williams). Both were acquaintances of Fonzie on Happy Days and the show was created as a spin-off, at one point doing a crossover with both Happy Days and Mork & Mindy. Laverne is more of a cynic and a tomboy, who enjoys dating tough guys despite her monogrammed sweaters and poodle skirts, and Shirley is a perky and bubbly girly-girl. In the first three seasons, they worked at a brewery in Milwaukee but relocated to Burbank, California when automated machines took their jobs at the brewery. When they moved, many of their friends joined them, which included their upstairs neighbors Lenny Kosnowski (Michael McKean) and Andrew "Squiggy" Squigman (David Lander), who both annoy Laverne and Shirley but are close friends with them all the same, Laverne's father Frank de Fazio (Phil Foster), Shirley's childhood sweetheart and on-and-off romance Carmine "The Big Ragu" Ragusa (Eddie Mekka), and landlady Edna Babish DeFazio (Batty Garrett), who gets the last name after she marries Laverne's father. The show was well known for its opening sequence, parodied on several other shows, which shows the girls chanting a Yiddish-American hopscotch chant, which goes into the theme song, "Making Our Dreams Come True" by Cyndi Grecco.
