Lark Rise to Candleford is a television series on BBC based on the trilogy of semi-autobiographical novels by Flora Thompson. Published in the late 1930s into the early 1940s, the novels that make up Lark Rise to Candleford take place in the rustic English countryside and the people that lived there, based on growing up in that environment. The television adaptation tells the story of Lark Rise to Candleford as seen by Laura Timmins, a young girl who lives in in the Oxfordshire hamlet of Lark Rise, as she sets out to live with her cousin, Dorcas Lane, who works as a Post Mistress in Candleford. Their journeys and experiences give viewers insight into the lives of people during the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, working on farms and crafting for themselves, as well as the boisterous aristocracy that lived above the general public. The show lasted for four seasons, from January 2008 to February 2011.MORE
