King Leonardo & His Short Subjects

King Leonardo & His Short Subjects is a cartoon series first released in 1960. Later renamed The King and Odie Show, the cartoon focuses on Leonardo the lion (Jackson Beck) who is the incompetent yet good hearted ruler of the fictional African nation of Congo Bongo. Leonardo's sidekick, the ironically named skunk, Odie Cologne (Allen Swift, ) fights to protect the kingdom from Itchy (Allen Swift, ) the King's brother, who is intent on becoming the ruler of the kingdom. Itchy is aided in his attempts to over throw the King by Biggie Rat (Jackson Beck) and an evil scientist, Mr. Mad (Norman Rose.) Other segments feature Tudor Turtle (Allen Swift) and the Southern-accented crime-fighting bloodhound, The Hunter (Kenny Dalmar.) Each episode of King Leonardo & His Short Subjects features five segments; three with King Leonardo (each ending in a cliff hanger) with interludes of Tudor Turtle or The Hunter.
