Kath & Kim is an American adaptation of an Australian comedy series about the same name about the dysfunctional relationship between a mother and daughter duo, in the Australian version this is Jane Turner as Kath Day-Knight and Gina Riley as Kim Knight, and in America starring Selma Blair (Kim) and Molly Shannon (Kath). Turner and Riley were the original creators of the show, and also the executive producers on the American version. Kath is a spunky 50-something divorcee, speed walking and reading self-help books while sporting colorful spandex, and her daughter Kim, a lazy, snacking, gossip-reading 20 something, has moved back in after becoming estranged from her new husband Craig Baker (Mikey Day). Kath is engaged to dorky and embarrassing Phil Knight (John Michael Higgins), who elicits plenty of eye-rolling from Kim. The two alternately bicker and support each other, while commenting on the flaws of the rest of the world without examining their own ridiculous behavior.
