Kate McShane

Kate McShane is a series about a spicy Irish-American lawyer who works on cases with aid from her father (an ex-police officer) and brother (a law professor and priest). McShane (Anne Meara) has a hard time remaining impartial to her clients, which leads to many emotional attachments for her and complicates her cases. The short-lived series was created in 1975 and only aired from September of 1975 to November of 1976. Executive producer E. Jack Neuman and co-producers Robert Stambler and Robert Foster handled the show, which aired on CBS from premiere to final episode. Anne Meara received a nomination for an Emmy Award for Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 1976 for her work as Kate McShane in the series. The series was also the first to feature a female lawyer, breaking ground for many popular drama series since then that follow much the same theme and general tone as the Kate McShane series did back then.
