Kappa Mikey is an animated comedic adventure developed by the Animation Collection for Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon that centers on Mikey Simon, a somewhat self-centered and typically oblivious nineteen-year-old, who wins a chance to become the lead actor in one of Japan’s live-action “anime” TV series, LilyMu. LilyMu had been one of the most popular Japanese superhero shows until the recent years with its floundering storylines and veteran young stars but with their new fish-out-of-water star from the states, the fans eat it up and turn LilyMu back into its once glorious standing. Of course, that whole fish-out-of-water theme doesn’t quite stick to being just on the show as Mikey copes with the new culture rules and bright surroundings while trying to make friends with his castmates, which can be difficult since they seem to be walking anime stereotypes. Lily had been the star and namesake of the show. The vain and spoiled former star will stop at nothing to get the smitten lead off her back and the show, a task a bit more difficult than she expected since he’s gained the termination-happy boss, Ozu, on his side. He is also helped by the gentle Mitsuki and the strong but not-so-bright Gonard.MORE
