JPOD

jPod, based on the bestselling novel by Douglas Coupland, is a comedic television series that follows protaganist Ethan Jarlewski (David Kopp) and his four co-workers at Neotronic Arts. A Y2K glitch created a pod that grouped workers with surnames beginning with the letter "J" together. Ethan, along with Kaitlin Joyce (Emilie Ullerup), Bree Jyang (Steph Song), Casper "Cancer Cowboy" Jesperson (Ben Ayres) and John Doe (Torrance Coombs) work together in the basement of Neotronic Arts. Their pod was dubbed "jPod." The series follows the group of lackadaisical, poorly-motivated video game developers as they deal with their new boss Steve Lefkowitz (Colin Cunningham), interfamilial relationships and the general chaos associated with modernity. The series goes on to unfold a delicate relationship between Steve and Ethan's mother Carol (Sherry Miller), as well as Ethan's difficulty in expressing his emotions to Kaitlin. Described as a show that "transcends demographics with its wit, style, humour and originality," it was canceled before the first season was complete, inciting protests by fans of the television series and book.
