Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot

Johnny Sokko And His Flying Robot is the english dubbed version of the Japanese show 'Giant Robo' as put out by American International Television in the late 1960s. In the show Earth has been invaded by an evil organization known as 'Gargoyle' that creates giant monsters to destroy the world. 'Gargoyle' is led by the blue tentacled alien emperor 'Guillotine' who commands the monsters from a space ship hidden in the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. However a young boy named Johnny Sokko and his friend Jerry Mano end up in possession of a giant robot resembling an Egyptian Pharoah that is being built by the captive scientist Dr. Lucius Guardian. Guardian dies, but not before bestowing the robot to Sokko who decides to use it to battle the evil monsters, becoming a member of the secret peacekeeping group known as 'Unicorn.' The show became a hit in America as its distribution grew through the early 1970s and there was even a film called 'Voyage into Space' which was made from several episodes of the television show being edited together.
