Jim Henson's the Storyteller

Jim Henson's The Storyteller is a mixed media children's TV series developed by Jim Henson that follows an aged storyteller (John Hurt, later Michael Gambon) as he narrates European and ancient Greek folktales and myths to his very eager and slightly confused talking dog (voiced by Brian Henson). The folktales are not the strict Grimm stories most have heard of but instead come from a variety of cultures, such as the Soldier and Death, a Russian tale of a soldier who captures Death in a sack, and Fearnot, a German story of a boy traveling the world to find out what fear is. The Greek myths are some of the more famous stories that came from the ancient culture with retellings of Daedalus and Icarus, the imprisoned father and son pair, who build wings to escape, and Theseus and the Minotaur, the hero sent to face off against the beast trapped within the labyrinth. Jim Henson's The Storyteller maintains the traditional narration style of these fantastical stories with a combination of live-action actors and very life-like puppets. MORE
