Jam and Jerusalem is a comedic drama that originally aired in the United Kingdom, but is sometimes shown to U.S. audiences as Clatterford. The program is set in the small fictional town of Clatterford St. Mary and revolves around the town's women's guild and Sal (Sue Johnston), the local practice nurse. Although Sal and her best friend Tip (Pauline McLynn) are highly active in community life, Sal is not initially a member of the women's guild. However, an unfortunate string of events (including the death of her husband and subsequent loss of her job) lead Sal to join the guild. Other recurring characters include members of Sal's family, Tip's husband Colin (Robbie Richardson), the chair of the women's guild Eileen Pike (Maggie Steed), lollipop lady Queenie (Doreen Mantle), church organist Delilah (Joanna Lumley), and "Spike" (Simon Farnaby) a postman and self proclaimed "hippie". The show follows Sal and her friends throughout their lives and adventures in Clatterford. Jam and Jerusalem blends both comedy and drama into an entertaining series.MORE
