Jake and the Kid is a classic Canadian family television drama set in the fictional prairie town of Crocus, Saskatchewan, Canada during the 1940s and 1950s. Based on the award-winning short stories of W. O. Mitchell, the television series focuses on the idyllic childhood of farm boy Ben Osborne (Ben Campbell) and his relationship with Jake Trumper (Shaun Johnston), his mother's kind and world-wise hired hand who helps run the farm after the death of Ben's father. The town of Crocus is home to a large cast of colorful characters, including the town barber, Repeat Golightly (Fred Keating). The quirky relationships and frequent disputes of the townspeople help bring the town of Crocus to life. Jake and the Kid ran from 1995 to 1999, airing for a total of 2 seasons and 26 episodes.
