It Takes A Thief

It Takes a Thief was an action-adventure series that aired on NBC and starred Robert Wagner, Malachi Throne, Fred Astaire, and Ed Binns. The series revolves around successful burglar, thief, and gentleman playboy Alexander Mundy (Robert Wagner), who finally slips up and his caught by the US government. The government's SIA (Secret Intelligence Agency) enlists Alexander to steal for them in exchange for his release from prison. His new boss, Noah Bain (Malachi Throne), becomes a close associate and friend. Alexander's dad Alister (Fred Astaire), a retired thief, taught Alexander all he knows and occasionally teams up with his son for special assignments. Later, Wallie Powers (Ed Binns) becomes Alexander's new SIA contact. The series was considered the last of the 1960's spy television genre. It Takes a Thief aired on NBC for two and a half seasons from 1968-1970, and was loosely inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's 1955 film "To Catch a Thief," starring Cary Grant. MORE
