In the Footsteps of Alexander the Great

In the Footsteps of Alexander the Great is a historical documentary directed by David Wallace developed by PBS that follows British documentary filmmaker and historian Michael Woods as he follows the route taken by the legendary young Alexander the Great in his bid to conquer the ancient world. Using the primary sources set by ancient Greek and Roman historians on the leader known as Alexander of Macedonia to guide him, Michael begins in Greece to take in the sights and expanses of what his troops would have faced and experienced as they traveled through the Middle East to what is known today as Turkey, Israel, Egypt, Iran, Afghanistan, and India. Having conquered most of the known world at 300 B.C.E. before his death at thirty-two, Alexander ultimately became one of the greatest military figures in history with titles of king of his native Macedonia, the pharaoh of Egypt, and the conqueror of the infamous Persian Empire.
