In Living Color

In Living Color is a sketch comedy show that aired from 1990 to 1994 on Fox. The show is the brainchild of Keenen and Damon Wayans, who also wrote skits and starred in the show. Other members of the Wayans family also appeared on the show, including Marlon, Shawn and Kim Wayans. The show was taped before a live studio audience in Los Angeles, California. The skits mainly focused on black subject matter, and it became labeled an edgier and hipper Saturday Night Live. This show helped launch the career of quite a few stars. Among them are Jim Carrey who had a recurring character called Fire Marshall Bill that would demonstrate what not to do on himself, Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Lopez. Jennifer Lopez was one of the Fly Girls, which danced to the sounds of the DJ during intermissions. Another famous sketch was Homey the Clown or Homey D. Clown. Homey was an angry clown that ranted against 'the man' and popularized the phrase 'homey don't play that.' The show started to feature musical guests in season two. Some popular acts were Public Enemy, Tupac Shakur, Mary J. Blige and Queen Latifah. The network started to censor some parts of the show in later seasons, which eventually led to Keenen and Damon Wayans leaving the show. MORE
