Homicide: Life on the Street

Homicide: Life on the Street was a police drama from NBC starring Andre Braugher and Kyle Secor. The series revolved around Baltimore Detective Frank Pembleton (Andre Braugher) and his partner Detective Tim Bayliss (Kyle Secor), two detectives in a homicide unit of the Baltimore Police Department, a team faced with the brutal reality of Baltimore’s culture of illegal drugs and homicide. The show was lauded for its realism and won many awards, including four primetime Emmy Awards and three Peabody Awards for best drama. It was adapted from David Simon’s nonfiction book “Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets,” which would also later serve for the basis of Simon’s Award-winning show “The Wire.” Many individuals and events were portrayed in both series. The series featured many notable guest appearances, including Robin Williams, Jake Gyllenhaal, James Earl Jones, Neil Patrick Harris, Steve Buscemi, J.K. Simmons, and many more.
