Home Improvement is an ABC sitcom starring Tim Allen as the ultimate male stereotype, Tim "The Tool Guy" Taylor. The series, like The Cosby Show and Seinfeld, was based on the stand-up comedy of its main actor. Tim Allen made a name for himself as a comedian by focusing on the comic extremes of masculinity and the funny ways that testosterone-fueled guys interact with their families and society. The title Home Improvement refers to both Tim Taylor's career as the host of a do-it-yourself tool show, as well as his daily life as a father trying to play his part in a healthy family. Along with his loving and strong-willed wife, Jill (Patricia Richardson), Tim tries his best to raise his three sons--Brad (Zachary Ty Bryan), Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas), and Mark (Taran Noah Smith). Brad is popular and athletic, but lacks common sense. Randy is an affable jokester, and Mark, the youngest brother, is a mama's boy. Home Improvement aired for eight successful seasons between 1991 and 1999. MORE
