Hoarding: Buried Alive

Hoarding: Buried Alive is a documentary style reality television series that dives into the complicated world of hoarders and attempts to help them learn how to clean up their cluttered lives. The series first aired on TLC in 2010. The series takes the viewer into the personal lives of new hoarders each episode and focuses on how it is actually a mental illness that affects the individual and those that surround them. Each episode looks at two different cases. It examines the history of the victim and takes time to interview family members. The show includes an extensive look at the items each person collects in an attempt to characterize and define who they are. Then, each hoarder receives treatment provided by both a therapist and a professional organizer. These professionals help them through the process of ridding their house of the hoard. Usually by the end of the episode, the hoarder has shown signs of improvement that make the viewer hopeful for their continuing success. MORE
