Highlander, or Highlander: The Series, was a syndicated TV series based on the film of the same name starring Christopher Lambert. The series is powered by a particularly epic theme song by Queen, which is taken from the original film. In the television iteration, Adrian Paul plays Duncan MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod, a member of the same Scottish Clan that Lambert's Connor MacLeod, hero of the film version, belonged to. In the world of Highlander, there are a race of immortals that live among us all. While many of these immortals choose to live their years in quiet, peaceful solitude, some each other down, desperate to absorb each other's power and become the last remaining, all-powerful immortal – a process known as "the quickening". Though Duncan MacLeod is one of the peace variety of immortals, he is constantly hunted by other immortals, often ones that he has met before in previous eras.
