H.G. Wells' Invisible Man is a series based on the science fiction novella written by H.G. Wells in 1897 about a scientist who seeks the ability to become invisible, eventually falling into madness after he succeeds in his attempts. The television series based on the novella was created in 1950 and originally aired on ITV in the United Kingdom. The series features several characters including The Invisible Man (Johnny Scripps), Sally Wilson (Deborah Walting), Diane (Lisa Daniely), and the narrative voice of Peter Brady (Tim Turner). Director Peter Maxwell, along with Writer Ian Stuart Black and Story Creators Robert Smart and Brian Clemens adjusted the story itself, making it different from the novella, with the scientist being hired by the government to aid them in criminal investigations and top-secret spy missions. The series became very popular in the United Kingdom and was eventually picked up by CBS in the United States, leading to a very long airing and a wider audience base.MORE
