Hercules: The Legendary Journeys is an American series starring Kevin Sorbo as the mythological Greek hero Hercules. The show told the story of Hercules, mortal son of the god Zeus, as he traveled the lands helping those in need. The show was serialized in nature, like a great comic book, with a new storyline every episode and larger plot threads that tied the story as a whole. The show filmed in New Zealand and was set in a fantasy version of ancient Greece that was never fully dated. In fact, the show constantly combined Oriental, Medieval, and Egyptian elements into its storyline. The show was related to another cult favorite, Xena: Warrior Princess, starring Lucy Lawless. Hercules: the Legendary Journeys became an impressive showcase for computer generated images as it used them extensively in every episode to showcase Hercules’ power and the gods that constantly surrounded his world.
