Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law

Harvey Birdman, Attorney at law is an animated sitcom that premiered on Cartoon Network’s adult swim programming block in 2000. Harvey is an attorney at the Sebben & Sebben Legal Firm, a law office staffed with Hanna Barbera characters from the sixties and seventies. He specializes in representing other cartoon characters in their cartoon related legal troubles. The show has an extremely loose plot structure, leaving room for all kinds of jokes, many involving putting cartoon characters in human, mundane situations. For example, an original Birdman villain, X the Eliminator, now has a weight problem, and has trouble lugging his doomsday device down the street. Harvey is joined by Peanut, his sidekick and clerk, who ignores everything he says and hits on every woman in sight. The show followed the success of adult swim’s Sealab 2021, and the Brak Show, which pioneered the art of repurposing cartoons. It premiered exactly one week after their first episodes. MORE
