Happy Town

Happy Town is a show on ABC about the town of Haplin, Minnesota, a small town with a dark past. Five years ago, a series of unsolved kidnappings occurred, though all has been peaceful since then. Without warning, a murder occurs in town and brings its haunting past back to the surface. The “Magic Man” is the prime suspect for the kidnappings, but all of the town’s residents begin to be evaluated, even those whose prominence makes them unusual suspects. The founding family of the town, Peggy Haplin (Frances Conroy), and her son John (Steven Weber) try to keep calm, but John’s daughter was one of the Magic Man’s victims and the case hits especially close to home. John is determined to seek vengeance on whoever took his daughter. Henley Boone (Lauren German), a newcomer to town, is drawn there by the memories of her late mother, who grew up there, and intends to open a candle shop in town with her inheritance, but her status as someone no one knows brings her under suspicion. Meanwhile, Deputy Tommy Conroy (Geoff Stults) suddenly has more dependent on him than he ever has, and the life of safety and comfort that he’s used to is in danger as he must figure out how to use his limited resources to keep the town, as well as his wife Rachel (Amy Ackers) and daughter Emma (Sophia Ewaniuk safe). The town of Haplin must work together to solve these crimes, and that means the citizen’s secrets being brought to the surface; who will cooperate, and who will turn against the others as they try to determine who already has?
