Happy Endings is a comedic tv series from ABC about a group of friends who become conflicted when the couple at their core breaks up at the altar. Dave (Zachary Knighton) and Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) were the perfect couple, and they had brought their friends in and held them together. After the split, their friends aren't sure what to do. Everything is suddenly awkward with Max (Adam Pally), Brad (Damon Wayans Jr.), Jane (Eliza Coupe) and Penny (Casey Wilson). Alex and Dave agree to remain friends but every little thing suddenly becomes a negotiation, and the group wonders if their history can keep them together even in this trying situation. On top of the complications of ending a long term relationship, and engagement, Alex and Dave have to deal with how they've affected their friends and each other, and how they're supposed to move on with their lives still so intertwined.
