Hangin' With Mr. Cooper

Hangin' with Mr. Cooper is a television show that originally aired from 1992 to 1997 on ABC about Mr. Mark Cooper (comedian Mark Curry), a former NBA basketball player who now works as a high school gym teacher and basketball coach in Oakland, California. Mr. Cooper is single, but lives with attractive female roommates and longtime best friends Robin Dumars (Dawnn Lewis) and Vanessa Russell (Holly Robinson), who offer him sound advice and help him out when he's in a bind. Although Mr. Cooper isn't the professional athlete he once was, he keeps his sense of humor and unique personality in tact. Mark harbors not-so-secret feelings for Vanessa and often conspires against her various boyfriends, eventually entering into a relationship with her. The three live next door to Tyler Foster, an annoying kid that just won't seem to go away and later seems almost endearing in his ever- presence. Later in the series, Mark's cousin Geneva Lee (Saundra Quarterman) and her daughter Nicole Lee (Raven-Symone) move in with him and Vanessa, and Mark develops a more solid, if unusual, family unit.
