Gidget

Gidget is a legendary 1965 television sit-com originally broadcast by the ABC network until 1966, now in frequent syndication. Gidget was based on the movie of the same name, with a young Sally Field (Norma Rae, Mrs. Doubtfire, Forrest Gump, The Flying Nun, Hooper, Smokey and the Bandit, Steel Magnolias, Soapdish) in the title role of Francis 'Gidget' Lawrence. The show has a fun 60's surf setting with Gidget facing the typical teenage troubles of high school and dating. The true heart of the show is the relationship between Gidget and her father, Professor Russell Lawrence (Don Porter, She-Wolf of London, The Candidate, Private Secretary, Matlock, Three's Company, The Six Million Dollar Man). The show is a somewhat dated due to the fact it is forty-years old, but it still holds up thanks to the first-rate acting and the fact that despite the time or era, teenagers face the same trials and tribulations.
