Geisters: Fractions of the Earth

Geisters: Fractions of the Earth is a Japanese-style animated ("anime") series created by Jang Jong-Geun, Koji Itoh and Sumio Watanabe. The series is set on earth in the year 2057. 400 years ago, humanity became aware of an asteroid with a head-on trajectory toward the planet. Different groups spent the next years devising ways to survive the collision and prevent the extinction of humankind. One group, the Dobias, vacated the planet to live in space and avoid the impact all together. The Shioru, however, built an entire new world underneath the earth in order to avoid the apocalypse that would occur. 100 years later, both groups returned to the surface of Earth, only to find that humans had been replaced as the dominant species on the planet. A new species, known as the Siliconians, had taken domain over Earth since the asteroid hit. Now a war over the limited remaining resources has begun, pitting humanity against itself and the Siliconians for supremacy over the new world. MORE
