Frasier is a long-running sitcom on NBC that focuses on the life of Dr. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer), former patron of NBC's other popular show, Cheers. A spin-off from that Boston-based show, Frasier opens with the titular character living in his hometown, Seattle, and working as a radio psychiatrist for KACL 780AM. Frasier lives with his father, former police officer Martin Crane (John Mahoney) who cannot live alone after he was shot in the line of duty, Daphne Moon (Jane Leeves), Martin's care-taker, and Eddie (Moose), Martin's comical dog. Frasier's other friends include his brother, Dr. Niles Crane (David Hyde Pierce), and his producer, Roz Doyle (Peri Gilpin). Together, they all create a close-knit family and it is under their watchful eyes that Frasier struggles to find love and be accepted into the cultural elite of Seattle's society. The group often visits Cafe Nervosa, and the coffee shop serves as a setting for Frasier and Niles' comical exploits, as well as a anchor to bring all the characters together episode after episode. Many cast members from Cheers make guest appearances on Frasier, and the plot lines of Frasier often contradict previously written back stories from Cheers.
