First In

First In is a reality docudrama television show from BET that follows the lives of five firefighters working in Compton. The reality drama premiered on September 30, 2009, offering viewers an inside look at the firehouse, the men who work there, and all that their job entails. These firefighters don't just put out fires, they also handle murder victims, motorcycle accidents and even plane crashes. Since there are no more hospitals in Compton, the Compton Fire Department answers health calls as well. Marcel Melanson, a battalion chief, even responds to a call where he helps a man struggling with a PCP overdose. In addition to the action in the field, First In also focuses on the drama surrounding the firefighter lifestyle's effect on personal relationships. Some of the firefighter's wives are supportive of their careers, while others question their husbands' loyalty to their families.
