FETCH

FETCH! is an interactive children's TV show on PBS that airs during the educational PBS Kids GO! block of programming. Part game show, part reality television show parody, FETCH! is hosted by Ruf Ruffman (Jim Conroy), a charismatic, animated dog. In the show, real ten to fourteen year old children compete in challenges to gain points. The challenges are tasks, most of which include educational components, such as dancing a waltz, hunting through Boston for nine scale-model planets, and living a modern technology-free day at the Plymouth Plantations. In order to prepare for their assigned tasks, the contestants learn lessons in astronomy, biology, food science, carpentry, and more, all on camera, so that viewers may learn along with them. A cute part-live-action, part-animation children's television series, FETCH! presents educational programming in a new, innovative format. With four seasons behind it, and still going, the show has proved itself to be quite a success. In June 2008, the show received its first Emmy for its theme song. MORE
