Extreme Couponing is the TLC series that follows shopaholics who use coupons to get huge savings while amassing large amounts of goods. Some people clip coupons to save a couple bucks off their grocery bills, but these people take it to a whole new level. Obsessively collecting for coupons and searching the internet for deals, some of these shoppers even dumpster dive to get coupons that people have thrown out. Their part-game part-addiction is simple, get as much as possible for as little as possible. Even if they don't need the items right now, they will often clear out a store's stock when a good deal is on. We join four of these shoppers as they take on the stores to get items for close to nothing. Nathan Engels of Kentucky started clipping coupons four years ago, and has quickly become addicted, pulling himself out of debt and stockpiling more than 10,000 items in his garage. Now he is on his ultimate shopping mission, a trip which includes 1,100 boxes of cereal, 300 toothbrushes, and 60 bottles of hand soap, while his coupons will net him a 95% savings. Joanie Demer of McKinleyville, CA caught the bug in just three months, collecting more than 500 coupons each week and buying 250 items in a shopping trip where she saved 98%. Joyce House of Philadelphia, PA hasn't paid for a toothbrush, toothpaste, or deodorant in 34 years, and learned the craft from her coupon-clipping single mother. Finally there's Amanda Ostrowski of Cincinnati, OH, who's stockpiles include over 3,000 rolls of toilet paper, enough to likely last most of her lifetime.
