Extras is a sitcom from BBC & HBO written and directed by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. The series focuses mostly on the life of Andy Millman (Ricky Gervais), a middle aged man who decided to give up his regular job to become a famous actor. Although he has an agent, the mostly brainless Darren Lamb (Stephen Merchant), Andy begins to realize that acting isn't as easy as he initially thought. Shuffled between extra work and tiny cameos, Andy and his friend Maggie Jacobs (Ashley Jensen), fight to stand out in the crowd of wannabes. All of Andy's hard work finally pays off when he lands his own starring role on a television comedy. But he's about to find out that being a major actor might be just as frustrating as being an extra. Each episode of Extras features a celebrity guest star, who acts as an exaggerated version of themselves. Such cameos have included Kate Winslet, who only seems to care about picking roles that will win her an Oscar, and Daniel Radcliffe, who hits on every woman around. Other celebrity guest stars include Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Stiller, David Bowie, Robert De Niro, and more. Extras originally aired in 2005, and lasted for two seasons and a Christmas Special. MORE
