E/R is a CBS hospital sitcom starring Elliot Gould, Mary McDonnell, Conchata Ferrell, Jason Alexander, and George Clooney in a story about the staff and patients of Clark Street Hospital, whose long-hour shifts and dicey personal lives lead to some hilarious misadventures. Gould stars as Howard Sheinfeld, an emergency room doctor at Clark Street Hospital. Sheinfeld has made a living for most of his life as an ear, nose, and throat specialist. However, because of his recent divorce, Sheinfeld is now forced to work extra shifts at the hospital in order to cover his alimony payments. Sheinfeld begrudgingly accepts his position at the hospital, although his demeanor often leads to some conflict with his co-workers. However, as he spends more time at the hospital he grows closer to the other eccentric doctors, nurses, and staff. Particularly the beautiful and intelligent Dr. Eve Sheridan (Mary McDonnell).
