HGTV Design Star

Design Star is an American reality competition show on HGTV that premiered in 2006, to fill the market niche for a home-design equivalent of the hit shows Project Runway, America's Next Top Model, So You Think You Can Dance, and Top Chef. The show is judged by television personalities Vern Yip, Genevieve Gorder, and Candice Olson. Clive Pearse hosted the first four seasons, but was replaced by Vern Yip for the fifth season. Each week, contestants must complete an interior design challenge using unconventional materials, a limited budget, and not very much time. In a race against the clock, contestants must use whatever they are given to design a living space to the best of their abilities. Like other reality competition shows, whichever contestant produces the worst design, as judged by the show's panel of judges, is sent home.
