Degrassi Junior High

Degrassi Junior High is a Canadian teen dramedy set in Suburban Toronto school. Long before “Degrassi: the Next Generation,” and even before “Degrassi High,” there was Degrassi Junior High, the second chapter in the decades long Degrassi Saga. The first was “The Kids of Degrassi Street,” created by Linda Schuyler and Kit Hood in 1979 and running up to just before the premier of Degrassi Junior High. DJH revolves around the lives of the students of Degrassi Junior High as they entered their most difficult and formative years. Every episode features 2 or 3 storylines: One comical, one not-so-comical, and one deadly serious. The more serious stories cover topics ranging from drugs to racism, and teen pregnancy to child abuse. A strong moral message can be found at the end of every story. Premiering in January 1987, this branch of the Degrassi Universe ran until March 1989, immediately followed by Degrassi High. MORE
