Deadline

Deadline is a TV series that ran from 2000 through 2001 that pursues New York City journalist Wallace Benton (Oliver Platt). Wallace Benton is an exceptional journalist. He does his job well; even his side job (teaching journalism to devoted students). He works for a well-known New York tabloid magazine called The NY Ledger, and will do whatever it takes to get a good story. Wallace is so determined, in fact, that he sacrifices the health of his once stable marriage and turns to drinking heavily when his marriage starts crumbling as a result of his devotion to reporting. But that is not the end of it. Wallace begins to involve his journalism students in his tricks, hoping that their participation will help him find his stories faster.
