Corner Gas is a Canadian television series which focuses on the comedic happenings at a roadside gas station located in Dog River, Saskatchewan. The series, which ran from 2004 to 2009, spotlights Corner Gas because it is the only gas station for miles in this small town. The characters working at the station include proprietor Brent Leroy (Brent Butt), retail assistant Wanda Dollard (Nancy Robertson) and Lacey Burrows (Gabrielle Miller), who works and owns the adjoining coffee shop called The Ruby. These main characters reveal the lifestyle of small town folk in the eyes of creator Butt, but also represent a healthy dose of coffee shop humor that takes place within the community. The show became an instant hit with over one million viewers per episode and went on to be nominated for over 70 various awards. Due to the popularity of the show, Saskatchewan premier Brad Wall signed a declaration that made April, 13, 2009, "Corner Gas Day," in the city when the series came to an end.MORE
