College Hill

College Hill is a reality television show on Black Entertainment Television (BET). First broadcast in 2004, the show follows the lives of students at historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). Uncensored and unrestricted, College Hill has received some negative criticism from the black community, who wonder why many of the more negative, and more base instinct-related, aspects of the students' lives are shown, rather than the more positive, intellectual elements. Despite such negative criticism, the show quickly attracted a loyal following and has, since its first broadcast in 2004, aired four seasons. After all, drama, fighting, and romance are simply found to be more entertaining, by the general public, than are shots after shots of students studying, attending lectures, and taking exams. College Hill brings together a group of quirky housemates, much more diverse than one would expect from a HBCU, where fewer races are represented. Viewers get to laugh along with, or at, the housemates in all their over-the-top reality-television glory. MORE
