Cimarron Strip was a western from the creators of Gunsmoke that aired briefly on CBS in 1967. The show centered around the population of Cimarron City, Oklahoma, a frontier town promised to be the last of America’s great homestead expansion, where land was offered free to those who would settle it. As a result of this homestead act, Cimarron City was embroiled in conflict between the intrepid farmers who had moved there to stake their claims, and the cattle barons who had previously leased that land from Washington D.C. It was in that setting that United States Marshall Jim Crown (Stuart Whitman) arrived in Cimarron City. With no sheriff, no army support, a rowdy population, and the threats of frontier life, Marshall Crown must lay down the law. Joining Whitman in the cast were Jill Townsend as Ducey Coopersmith, Percey Herbert as MacGregor, and Randy Boone as Francis Wilde. Cimarron Strip was cancelled after 1 season due to poor ratings.MORE
