Cheerleader Nation is a reality television series on Lifetime, set in Lexington, Kentucky and based on the Paul Laurence Dunbar High School competitive varsity cheerleading team. The cheerleading team is on a quest to win their third national championship, and in this expose of what it means to be a cheerleader, beyond the pom-poms, short skirts, and pyramids, viewers everywhere can get to know about the harsh realities of competitive cheerleading. Ryan, Amanda, Megan, Katie, Ayrica, Kaitlin, Chelsea, Nicole, and Ashley are the varsity cheerleaders that make up the focus of the show, along with their coach, Donna Martin, who also happens to be Ryan’s mother. The girls have various personalities and interests outside of cheerleading, but what the characters all share is a passion for the sport and a competitive spirit that burns bright, although it often also causes some extra drama for the girls.
