Check It Out! with Dr. Steve Brule

Check it out! with Steve Brule is an Adult Swim television series spinoff of John C. Reilly’s Dr. Brule character from Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Good Job! Dr. Brule is the resident dispenser of misguided health advice for Channel 5, and now he has his own show. According to Dr. Brule, it’s “the show about things I want to find out about.” Each episode has a general theme, as Dr. Brule explores topics like “Food”, “Fear”, and “Relationships” in his own special way. The man is fairly demented and weird, making one wonder what he is a doctor of exactly. The show is purposefully a complete mess, with no production value and a very amateur look. Each show begins with Dr. Brule reciting a nonsensical poem that is marginally related to the episode’s topics. He explores the topic with interviews with experts and “man in the field” pieces. Fake advertisements and segments from Channel 5 are also included in each episode. The show continues with the absurdist humor and awkwardness that Awesome Show is known for. MORE
