Charles in Charge

Charles in Charge is a sitcom that originally aired on CBS and starred Scott Baio as the titular main character. Charles is a young college student who takes a babysitting job for the Pembroke family as a trade for room and board in the family's home. Charles struggles to complete all his college work while also making sure that the children he cares for, Lila (April Lerman), Douglas (Jonathan Ward), and Jason (Michael Pearlman) are safe, happy, and entertained. His friend Buddy Lembeck (Willie Aames) helps Charles through all of his trials and tribulations. After the first season, Charles in Charge entered first-run syndication and Pembrokes were replaced by the Powells, who consisted of mother Ellen (Sandra Kerns), grandfather Walter (James T. Callahan), daughters Jamie (Nicole Eggert) and Sarah (Josie Davis), and son Adam (Alexander Polinsky). In this season, Charles' mother, Lillian (Ellen Travolta), was also introduced. She also acted as the mother to Scott Baio's other famous character, Chiachi on Happy Days and Joanie Loves Chachi. Charles in Charge boasted many guest stars who went on to become famous, such as Meg Ryan, Matthew Perry, Christina Applegate. Recurring guest stars included Ben Stein, Rue McClanahan, and Erika Eleniak. Charles in Charge was produced by Al Burton Productions, Scholastic Productions, and Universal Television, and it ran in 1984-1985 on CBS and then from 1987-1990 in first-run syndication. MORE
