Calling All Sharks

Calling All Sharks pairs National Geographic Ultimate Explorer correspondent Mireya Mayor with renowned underwater cinematographer Bob Cranston in a mission to capture the beauty and ferocious power of the great white shark. The show highlights the use of a unique sound wave device, otherwise known as Shark Sonics, to attract sharks to the camera and offer viewers closeup footage of these amazing ocean predators. In the past, sharks were lured with a mixture of fish parts and blood called chum. Unfortunately, chum muddies the waters and causes the sharks to go into a frenzy. With Shark Sonics, viewers will see these great creatures in a more natural state while the researchers suffer less risk of injury to themselves and equipment - or at least, that's the theory. Calling All Sharks follows Cranston and Mayor as they test the new device, losing the shark cage and going face-to-face with great whites without fear for their safety. MORE
