The Big O is an animated science fiction noir TV series developed and directed by Kazuyoshi Katayama that follows the skills and services of Roger Smith, a top-notch negotiator, who provides Paradigm City with the conflict resolution with the help of a female robot R. Dorothy Wayneright and his slightly visually challenged butler, Norman Burg It seems that Paradigm City is the site of a tragedy – over forty years ago, the world became a wasteland with the survivors completely wiped of their memories. When those memories randomly surge amongst different groups of people within the confines of the domed city, Roger is sent out in order to deal with the demands and repercussions of the confusing memories. But when the conflict is too big or too violent, he calls upon Big O, a giant behemoth of a mecha with enough fire power to make up for its sluggish movements and jilted steps. Working against Roger, R. Dorothy, Norman, and the Big O, is the Paradigm Group, especially the likes of Alex Rosewater, the son of the city’s founder who slowly loses his grip on reality in his attempts to create a new world.
