Bat Masterson is the NBC western TV series that follows the fictional adventures of real-life marshal, gambler, and ladies man Bat Masterson (Gene Barry). Bat traveled the West looking for women and adventure, wearing his black derby, fancy vest, jacket and cane. Masterson preferred to use his cane and his wits before resorting to his gun, earning him the nickname Bat. Just like the theme song sung by Mike Stewart says, he was a man of steel, with a lightning cane, who became a legend of the West. The show featured guest stars like Robert F. Simon as Harrison Whitney, Richard Eastham, Quinton Sondergaard, and Ron Hayes who played the role of Wyatt Earp. The series was loosely based on the 1957 biography of Masterson, the front cover was shown at the end of each episode's credits.
