Band of Brothers

Band of Brothers is a ten-part HBO miniseries produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks and based on the non-fiction book of the same name by historian Stephen A. Ambrose. The show, like the book, assembles the story of Easy Company of the 101st Airborne Division of the Army during World War II based on a series of interviews with the surviving soldiers. The show takes some liberties with the story but for the most part this is a faithful adaptation of recorded history. One of the many military advents of the second World War was the training of paratroopers who could drop into enemy territory as part of a concentrated assault. The paratroopers were often in extreme danger, but because of this danger (and a pay raise), a special breed of brave young Americans signed up for the new division. Damian Lewis stars as Richard Winters, the natural leader of Easy Company. He's backed by a talented ensemble cast, including Ron Livingston as Lewis Nixon and Donnie Wahlberg as Carwood Lipton. Band of Brothers is a tense and inspiring series about one exemplary group of soldiers in World War II and how their bonds of friendship made them one of the best fighting forces in the War. MORE
