Ballykissangel is a dramatic TV series developed by BBC Northern Ireland that centers on the fictional village of Ballykissangel, a relatively small town in Ireland, as a young Catholic ' and British - priest Peter Clifford (Stephen Tompkinson) deals with the conflicts both within and out of the church. Not quite realizing how his move to Ballykissangel would cause a stir, Father Clifford copes with his very scornful superior Father MacAnally (Niall Toibin), an outspoken anti-organized religion Assumpta Fitzgerald (Dervla Kirwan), and a town full of people not quite open to the new priest. Soon, the people begin to open up to him and he is pulled into the sometimes comical, often dramatic problems of the people of Ballykissangel. Brian Quigley (Tony Doyle) cannot seem to stop looking for money in everything he does ' even in the confessional, his daughter Niamh (Tina Kellegher) who keeps wondering what makes for a good husband, local boys Liam and Donal (Joe Savino and Frankie McCafferty) frequently misinterpret all of Father Clifford's talks, and the town goes into an uproar when the lottery hits. Ballykissangel is a look at the day-to-day dramas of a small town with sometimes larger than life problems.MORE
