Attack of the Killer Tomatoes is an animated comedy television series that ran from September 1990 to November 1992 on Fox Kids, airing a total of 21 episodes during its 2 season duration. Attack of the Killer Tomatoes is based on the 1978 science fiction musical comedy movie of the same name and that film’s 1988 sequel, Return of the Killer Tomatoes. A parody of the giant menace movie trend of the 1950s, the series is about Dr. Putrid T. Gangreen (John Astin), whose ultimate goal is to rule the world, irregardless of what it takes to get there. Dr. Gangreen’s wild experiments keep the plot moving, especially when one of his greatest successes, turning a tomato into a human, may very well become his undoing.
