An Idiot Abroad

An Idiot Abroad is The Science Channel series where comedian Ricky Gervais and his The Office co-creator Stephen Merchant surprise their friend Karl Pilkington with a forced trip around the world. Karl was the producer of The Ricky Gervais Show, where he was usually the butt of the joke. A close friend of Merchant and Gervais, Pilkington is mostly a homebody, never venturing too far out of his comfort zone. Until the day that the guys show up at his house, forcing him on a trip around the world to see the Seven Wonders of the World. In a "practical joke turned social experiment", Pilkington is sent around the world with Gervais, immersing himself in local cultures and as usual, providing entertainment and amusement for his friends. The normal and mundane guy takes on the world, heading to China to see the Great Wall of China, India where he visits the Taj Mahal, Jordan to see the Dead Sea, Egypt and their legendary pyramids, and much more.
